Early Learners

Ages 2-3

Children at the age of two are just beginning to explore their surroundings and develop a sense of autonomy.

At this age they are exploring cause and effect, personal development skills, and learning effective communication. In order to build a strong foundation as a lifelong learner, our curriculum for our early learners (two year old program) is divided into eight learning objectives. Some of these learning objectives include: Cognitive Development, Personal Development, and Social Development.

Language and Literacy: Our Early Learners will learn to express, communicate, and comprehend the English language through storytelling, verbalizing needs and wants, singing songs, and learning the alphabet.

Cognitive Development: When exploring their cognitive capacities, our Early Learners differentiate between similarities and differences between objects, classification, and objects in a series.

Science and Mathematics: In our Mathematics Center, the children focus on counting, shapes and colors. Learning numbers, shapes, and colors helps develop critical thinking and communication skills. In our Science Center, our children explore nature with a hands-on approach and focus on their five senses: touching, seeing, hearing, tasting, and smelling.

Foreign Language: Our Early Learners begin to understand simple words and phrases in Spanish while participating in rhymes, songs, and cultural experiences that promote diversity and build confidence.

Fine Motor Skills: To help the development of fine motor skills, our children work with manipulatives that strengthens their fine motor control such as stringing beads, painting, puzzle manipulations, and more.

Gross Motor Skills: For gross motor skill development, our Early Learners participate in various physical activities throughout the day to promote active bodies.

Social Development: Early Learners will be encouraged to engage in group activities that involve social interaction. We promote sharing in the class and comprehending that everyone is a friend. Since two year olds have potential physical moments, we will model safe hands, safe feet, and safe teeth.

Personal Development: On a daily basis, the children will be reminded of appropriate manners. They will learn to eat with utensils, push in their chairs, clean up toys, say "Please" and "Thank you" and many more kind words. Our early learners participate in a regimented two week potty training boot camp which gives them a great sense of accomplishment and independence.
